The power and wonder of being known
The story of Nathaniel is fascinating. What was it that took a man who was quite openly rude about the birthplace of someone he was about to meet - to a man who was excited for the second coming of Jesus Christ!
What is more staggering is that it was done in just two short sentences. This man truly was caught up the timeless wonder of an encounter with God.
But how did it happen? Jesus just said a few things to Nathaniel. He told him his heritage, he told him his heart. Nathaniel's response said it all. "How do you KNOW me?". We know, of course, that God the Creator knew everything about Nathaniel, but in that moment Nathaniel also KNEW he was known.
The power and wonder of this 'being known' experience starts to draws people into a relationship with God.
Jesus goes a step further and says He knows what Nathaniel has been doing…because He saw him 'under the tree'.
Two simple statements from Jesus struck deep into Nathaniel and he become a believer.
Wouldn't it be amazing if we could do the same. What if God were to say to us: "You can if you trust me."
