There's something about Mary

I woke up one morning with this phrase going through my head. I knew it was a movie title. At first I was a bit perplexed. Though it was not the first time I had woken with a completely random phrase and I was learning that it was one of the ways Jesus used to get my attention.
I had been learning to respond to these moments by taking time to ‘focus’ on the phrase and as I did, if it was God, more would come to me. So I did that. Two things seemed to form. There is someone called Mary and there is something about her that is drawing his attention. (Who on earth is this Mary, Lord????). I also thought that as He had used *this* specific title to bring Mary to my attention, there was likely something in that movie that was important and relevant. I guess I could have googled it but instead, I thought of someone I know who is a real film buff. I decided I would get in touch and ask him what the main themes of the film were, and to please keep it as concise as possible! He said that it was all about true love conquering yet it was always under pressure from the past. When I heard this, things started to fall into place.
A tumble of additional thoughts formed at different times over the next few days. They were starting to form a message. Mary was married. The marriage was under pressure. Things from the past were hindering the closeness of relationship. This situation has come to the attention of the Lord. In the midst of this situation there is encouragement for Mary. There was a creativity and a tenderness in Mary’s heart that the Lord loves. Though she has made come crazy decisions over the years that have impacted her life negatively. A sense of turning a page and a breakthrough coming in terms of closeness. I then saw in my mind’s eye, beautiful petals of different colours being poured over Mary, like she was being so loved on by the Lord Jesus. I began to write all these down. I then began to ask the Lord who Mary was? And what was I to do next with all these words and thoughts.
One morning I knew what I should do next. I was to record these thoughts and more would come as I did this. I could also then not have to think about it anymore. So I did exactly that. I recorded these thoughts on a voice recording.
Mary, there is something about you that has caught the Lord’s attention. There is a creativity, a tenderness and a love inside you. However, this love has come under enormous pressure recently and you have felt stifled, even spurned. Jesus wants you to know that He loves you, he has not forgotten you..he can make right some of the things from the past that are coming up and bouncing against you at the moment as you seek Him with all your heart. Don’t let the enemy stop you from pursuing the Lord. He is for you. Not against you. Even in the times when you can’t feel Him or sense Him he is there for you. You have drawn his attention. Pour out your love to Him and he will cause you to walk under showers from heaven of beautiful colours, almost like petals falling down from heaven pouring down all over you and falling on the ground around you. Love never fails.
I still did not know who Mary was. So now I had a voice message for someone called Mary who at this point I did not know. I had no idea what I was to do next. I just knew I Had done what I needed to do. I was learning to be led by Holy Spirit on these adventures.
The next step came a few weeks later out of the blue..
We had recently moved to a church with a few hundred people in it and one Sunday as we walked in the door, I overheard someone say to someone else as they went into the creche: “Oh, nice to see you again Mary! It’s been while.” My heart stopped. I immediately knew that *this* was *the* Mary. During the time of worship, I asked the Lord about this. There just seemed a peace and a smile that confirmed: “Yes, this is her.”
A couple of days later I contacted the church office and asked to speak to the leader. I explained that I thought I might have something that may encourage someone in the church called Mary. I asked if he would be willing to listen to it and see if it seemed to fit. He said yes and then replied saying that he had gone through it and asked if he could hand it onto Mary as he knew it would encourage her. I also sent him the words so it was written words and voice. Soon, after, Mary, was telling people in the church about this super encouraging message she had received and was opening up to prayers and support.
So, that is the behind the scenes story of how heaven sent a personal message to someone called Mary.
Much love to you all on this Good Friday in 2026 when we remember the ultimate loving act of the One who is Love ❤️
